Eighteen years in Uruguay — praying for twenty more.

Paul graduated with his MDiv from Central Baptist Theological Seminary (Plymouth/Minneapolis, Minnesota) in 2002 and has now served eighteen years on the field in Uruguay. Having just turned fifty, he prays the Lord will grant him roughly twenty more years of service — enough time, Lord willing, to see the church in Durazno raise up its own leaders and reproduce.

Jo Anna was born in Montevideo, Uruguay — the field is her homeland. She holds a Master's in Biblical Counseling from Central, and her counseling is woven through the daily life of the ministry: with women walking through fractured family situations, with teens, and with children who have never heard that God loves them.

God called the Harmons not to the capital but to the interior — the towns at the heart of the country where gospel witness is thinnest. Their method has always been relational and home-based: sharing mate around a kitchen table, hosting asado in the backyard to draw men out, opening the Scriptures one conversation at a time.

When they began, Sunday church attendance was culturally foreign — in secular Uruguay, "going to church" simply isn't something people do. So the work grew the way the culture could receive it: midweek Bible studies in homes, where neighbors could ask honest questions over a shared gourd of mate. From those living rooms, a congregation was slowly born.

Today that small congregation gathers in its own downtown building, eager to reach Durazno — and praying to one day plant vibrant churches throughout Uruguay's interior.
